The primary law enforcement agency for unincorporated King County, Washington, formed in 1852 and headquartered at the King County Courthouse in Seattle. It formed the Green River Task Force after four victims were found, leading the investigation that eventually identified and, in 2001, arrested Gary Ridgway, who pleaded guilty to 48 murders in a deal with the King County Prosecuting Attorney's office.
